Sarajevo was founded by Isa-beg Ishakovi\u0107, the Bosnian Sand\u017eakbeg during the Ottoman Empire, in 1462.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to understand the rich history of the area where Sarajevo is located, it is interesting to note that the first human settlements in the area of Sarajevo date back to the Early Stone Age, it was inhabited by Illyrians, Romans, Slavs, in the Middle Ages this area was part of the Banovina Bosnia and the Kingdom of Bosnia, the Ottoman Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire; Kingdoms of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes; Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarajevo is a city that you must experience, it cannot be described.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarajevo is the meeting place of East and West. The city where the 20th century began (with the Sarajevo assassination that started World War I). Sarajevo is the city where the 1984 Winter Olympics were held. The second millennium ended in Sarajevo (with the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the longest siege of a capital city in modern history from 1992 to 1996). Sarajevo is a hero city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its cultural, administrative, economic and social center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is located between the Olympic Mountains in a valley, and is surrounded by rivers and mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The climate of Sarajevo is pleasant, moderately continental. The inhabitants of Sarajevo are known as some of the friendliest in the world. Kindness, hospitality, a wealth of history, cultural, sports, scientific, cultural and civilizational achievements are some of the main features of Sarajevo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarajevo is known worldwide as the European Jerusalem, due to its religious and cultural diversity, which has been continuous for more than half a millennium. It is one of the few cities in the world where within a radius of 100 meters you can find a Muslim mosque, a Catholic church, a Jewish synagogue and an Orthodox church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ak-Saraj, Tebe-Saraj between Persia, Djurdistan and Degestan, the city of Saraj on the banks of the Erdelje river when you pass the fields of Hajhat, now in the lands of Muskovi, Vize-Saraj in Rumelia and others. But this Bosnian fortified city of Sarajevo is the most advanced, beautiful and lively of all.” Evlija Celebija, Ottoman travel writer from the 17th century<\/p>\n\n\n\n
